Detailed Description
949 Racing Big Tube Header
Designed as a no compromise header for high output Miata BP 1.8 engines. The 4:2:1 configuration was chosen to allow the best possible midrange torque. The design and construction is focused on maintaining peak gas velocity with maximum possible flow. While even a stock engine will see nice power gains, it's optimized for engines making over 160whp.
Using thin wall 304 stainless steel for ultra light weight and corrosion resistance, it is built to stand up to the rigors of racing. It takes over one day to make a single 949 Racing header, such is the level of fit and finish. Tiny, perfect argon back purged welds. Hand finished internal seams. The interior of this header is smoother than the outside of most mass produced headers.
No provision is made for EGR so this header is absolutely not legal for highway use. Strictly a race header. Installation requires disconnecting steering shaft at rack and loosening rack mounts.
Header comes with adapter to mate to stock catalytic converter location or as race kit with ball pivot and separate flange to weld to your custom exhaust system. Look for 949Racing's upcoming Laguna Race 2.25 and 2.5" exhaust systems. These will be available in versions to bolt directly to header for maximum weight savings and efficiency.
If you are building your own header back exhaust system, select the "ball socket receiver" option for the lightest and strongest combination
*In California this product is only for racing vehicles, which may never be used upon a highway.
