The USM is used when you need to connect 1-4 non Racepak sensors to the G2X or IQ3 via the V-net cable
USM 4 Sensor Input Module
  • Up to four sensors can be connected to the USM
  • Terminal strip design provides ability to route sensor cable from sensor to USM, cut to length and connect
  • Multiple USM modules may be utilized. For example, an IQ3 provides 32 inputs. 8 USM X 4 inputs each = 32 inputs
  • Sensor cables available with factory installed mating sensor connectors for Racepak sensors

Each sensor input can be programmed as shown below. Calibration and scaling values for the listed temperature and pressure sensors are pre-loaded, in the Racepak software. Customer supplied sensors may be also utilized.

Racepak 3 Wire Pressure / Throttle / Travel Sensor
+5V: is power to sensor – typically red wire

Brake Switch
Records voltage when brake pedal is pressed. Voltage Event or a Ground Event is available for programming purposes. Single wire can be connected from non powered side of brake light switch to Signal input on USM. When brake is applied, signal is recorded in data.

Generic 2 Wire Temperature Sensors
Consult manufacturer for pin out specifics. It will be necessary to obtain resistance value of sensor. USM software provides ability to calculate 32 resistance values and insert resistor value into channel programming.

Fuel Level
To simplify, we convert Ohms reading to volts. To do so, the 499 resistor is selected along with 0-5 V sensor type (in channel programming) Fuel tank is filled and voltage noted. Fuel tank is emptied and voltage noted. These two values are then used for two calibration points. Signal is input from fuel level sender

Throttle Position from factory ECU
Typically a 0-5V signal from the ECU. Customer will need to locate the signal wire in ECU harness and input into Signal of input of USM. Two calibration values are entered into software. 0v=0 and 5v=100 at WOT is example calibration.

ECU Temps & Pressures from factory ECU
Typically not recommended. “Sharing” resistance based sensor data can affect information transmitted to ECU, which alters vehicle performance.
